Finish and care
Keep it raw: The light oil coating provides temporary protection. To maintain the bare steel appearance, ongoing care or a suitable clear coating is required.
Let it rust: Remove the oil with a suitable degreaser, following its instructions. Leave exposed to the weather and wet occasionally to encourage a natural rust finish. Colour and coverage will vary.
Paint or powder coat: Remove the oily film before finishing. Use a suitable wax and grease remover and follow your paint supplier’s preparation instructions, or have your powder coater prepare the steel.
